Painting (done side by side with interior decorating) figured as the top home remodeling project which could increase resale value. Kitchen refurbishing and bathroom renovation followed with average return on investment at 72 and 68 percent, respectively. Other home improvement activities that Century 21 listed in its top 10 chart are exterior painting, flooring upgrades, replacement of windows or doors, family room and fireplace additions, spruced up basements, and updating of furnace and heating systems."
